If you are a regular reader, you might remember Helping fellow man… Kiva and my loan to Shawqat Al Kahwaji, a Palestinian electrician in Gaza.
Recently Shawqat has made two repayments on his loan, and he’s well on his way to having it repaid. Awesome!
While poking around on Kiva, I noticed that there are a bunch of new businesses listed and in need, so I chose a few more to lend to. Here’s what I chose:
- $100 of a $1625 loan to Fana Mihkalova Atansova, a grocer in Sliven, Bulgaria, who will use it to buy a new refrigerator
- $50 of a $800 loan to Mom Prak, a mototaxi driver in Dangkar District, Cambodia, who will use it to convert his mototaxi into a “tuk tuk”, a form of autorickshaw
- $50 of a $650 loan to Kurte Kristof, a musician in Sliven, Bulgaria, who will use it to produce a CD (hopefully I can buy a copy!)
Please join me in saying good luck to these businesses on the other side of the world!
Jeremy,
Thank you so much for the post. We love it when people blog about us! It’s through the blogosphere that the site has become what it has… We encourage you and others to continue to blog about us when you receive updates or whenever you feel like…
If you’d like and are able, we’d love for you to put a banner or permanent link on that empty right side of your site… Here are some available banners that we’ve put together so far.

by the way, I love the panoramas… I plan on trying autostitch out here in Pittsburgh sometime soon.

Hi Sheel,
Thanks for the comment!
I already have the Kiva banner on the front page and category pages. I’ve tried to keep the single post page simple!
Great that you like the panoramas! I’m going to take a few more pretty soon. :)
I now see the Kiva banner on your front page. Interestingly, all of the links/banners/friends/search stuff on the right side of your page is showing up below all of your posts for me (which is why I thought you didn’t have a banner). I’m using IE 6.0… I’ll try to load your page from another computer and let you know how it goes.
By the way, thanks for the email! I’ve forwarded on your recommendations to other members of our team who will hopefully implement them.
