On Slashdot today there was a mention of a new video streaming technology, Flumotion, made by Fluendo. It’s 100% open source technology from end-to-end, including the video codec.
What’s amazing really, is that it’s absolutely amazing video. A 32k/s stream gets you very nice video and audio. They use Ogg Vorbis/Theora as a video codec. The player is written in Java. Amazing.
